Savoury Meatballs with Gravy

Ingredients
  

Meatballs

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 Large onion divided
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Gravy

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Cups Chicken broth
  • 4 tbsp Beef bouillon
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • water

Meatball Instructions

  • Mix together ground beef, half of the chopped onion, eggs, bread crumbs, ketchup, mustard and spices
  • Using a large cookie or muffin scoop, scoop meat into your hand and pack nice and firm, until you’ve made balls from all your meat. Transfer to a sheet or plate
  • Place your meatballs into the fridge for 15-30 minutes.
  • Once meat is cooked, pre-heat skillet and add 2 Tbsp olive oil. Fry meatballs for 2-4 minutes on each side, or until browned.

Gravy Instructions

  • Take the other half of your onion and cut it in slices. Now in same pan that you fried the meatballs in, add butter and onions. Fry until they are tender and a little browned.
  • When your onions are ready, add water, chicken broth, beef bouillon and garlic powder. Heat until boiling.
  • Mix cornstarch and water, then slowly pour into your gravy while stirring constantly with a whisk or spoon. Mix until fully incorporated. You may need to add more of this water/cornstarch mixture to get your desired gravy thickness.
  • Transfer your meatballs back into your pan put the lid on and simmer for 1/2 an hour.
  • Serve!
